About Masjid Algester
The Islamic Society of Algester was established in 1990 in response to the growing number of Muslims in Southern Brisbane. It has grown significantly over the years, with the continuing inflow of migrants and new Muslims. The Society is dedicated to meeting the needs of the Muslim community in Brisbane, promoting Islamic awareness and co operation in the best tradition of Islam. As members of the Society we strive to embody the Sunnah (practice) of the Prophet Muhammed ï·º and teachings of the Quraan. As such, we promote and practice values of peace, inclusiveness and respect towards all God’s creatures. As is the case with running any institution, there are associated costs. These include rates, cleaning and any other general repair / maintenance work that needs to be carried out. The Society is totally reliant upon donations from the public to ensure it is running properly. With the growth in the Muslim population, the current house is no longer sufficient to service the needs of the community. It is our hope, Insha-Allah, to build a Masjid and Madrassah on our premises; providing facilities demanded by the community and to cater for increased numbers in the future. Having now gained approval for our building project, the society is seeking funds to finish construction, and would appreciate any financial assistance. May Allah reward you for your assistance.
